Our Mission

TapWaterGrade provides independent, data-driven water quality grades for tap water systems across the United States. Our mission is to empower consumers with transparent, accurate information about their drinking water quality.

We believe everyone deserves to know about the quality of their tap water and have access to resources to improve it if needed.

Data Sources

Our grades are based on publicly available EPA data:

  • EPA ECHO (Enforcement and Compliance History Online) database
  • EPA Envirofacts API for Safe Drinking Water Act violations
  • State drinking water quality reports
  • Water system demographics from the U.S. Census

Privacy Policy

We collect minimal personal information. When you search for a zip code, we only see:

  • The zip code searched (for aggregate analytics)
  • Your approximate general location from your IP address
  • Standard web server logs

We do not sell or share your personal data with third parties. We do not track you across other websites.
